Lara handles general civil litigation matters with a focus on commercial, real estate, probate and employment cases. While at Pepper Law, she has worked on a variety of litigation matters in state and federal courts, including several complex commercial cases involving seven figure damage amounts. Lara has gained invaluable experience, insight and contacts by having been responsible for working directly with expert witnesses, including accountants and engineers.
Lara grew up near Memphis, Tennessee. In 2015, she graduated magna cum laude from the University of Mississippi, where she received her Bachelor’s degree. Upon graduating, Lara attended the University of Mississippi School of Law and received her J.D. in December 2017. In the Spring of her first year of law school, Lara won the Campbell DeLong Trial Competition and was invited to become a member of the Trial Advocacy Board. During her tenure at the University of Mississippi School of Law, Lara was also a member of the Student Bar Association, the Public Interest Law Foundation, the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund, and a Staff Editor for the Mississippi Sports Law Review.
During her last semester of law school, Lara was selected to extern with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Tennessee, where she worked closely with Assistant U.S. Attorneys in both the criminal and civil divisions. Through this externship, she developed a familiarity with the federal court system, refined her legal writing and research skills, and developed valuable litigation and investigatory skills that have proven beneficial in her practice today.
Lara also studied abroad at Cambridge University & Downing College in the United Kingdom. While abroad, Lara had the opportunity to learn about international business law and international advocacy and dispute resolution.
In law school, Lara also assisted with organizing the annual fundraiser for the school’s clinical and pro bono programs, which raised money to support the school’s work for those in need of legal services. Lara was selected to participate in the Child Advocacy Program during law school, where she served as an assistant guardian ad litem for children in cases involving allegations of neglect and abuse, making recommendations to courts regarding the best interests of the children involved.
Lara is a member of the Nashville Bar Association, the Young Lawyer’s Division, the Tennessee Bar Association, and the Lawyers’ Association for Women: Marion Griffin Chapter.
In her free time, Lara enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with her husband, Michael, and their golden retriever, Nala.
